The second of three children, born and raised in Houston, TX, Adriana Sanchez’s childhood was influenced by dance, music, movement and an interest in elevating others. She began taking Group Exercise classes at a local gym in 2002 and developed a passion for the high energy environment that group dynamics provided. At the suggestion of one of her favorite instructors, Adriana agreed to obtain her Primary Group Exercise Instructor certification in 2003 and immediately took each opportunity possible to teach or sub any available classes. Making others feel empowered and helping others achieve things they never thought possible soon became her driving force and later on led her to obtaining a Personal Training Certification in 2005. Later on that same year Adriana was offered a Group Fitness Department Head position with a prestigious exercise facility, which afforded her the opportunity to share her love of teaching with other aspiring and veteran instructors for the next 5 years.
While teaching provided a nostalgic reminder of performing from her high school years, Adriana still longed for personal growth and challenges on a higher level. That opportunity came in 2007 when her personal trainer suggested she enter a fitness competition. After months of dieting and training, Adriana stepped on the Europa Supershow stage in Dallas, TX for the BSN Hot Body Contest that same year. Although she did not place at the contest, she was instantly bitten by the “competition bug” and decided that her athletic frame was more suited for the Figure Division. Adriana has since then become a top-ranking Figure Athlete and captured high placings in both local and National level shows.
Adriana continues to work as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, alongside her primary role as Studio Manager for Life Time Athletic. In addition to being a leading force in fitness, she also champions the cause of helping others to live a fuller life started a newsletter to promote healthy eating and exercise habits. Although a recent injury required a complete ACL reconstruction in 2011, Adriana continues to be active on the competition circuit by coaching athletes in the art of posing and stage presentation. “I miss being on stage but feel blessed that I get to share my love of competing with fellow athletes. I have to take my time and be patient with this healing process but until it’s my turn again I’ll just continue to LOVE, LIVE, LAUGH & LIFT!”
