Margaret Clarke

I was introduced to yoga and the yogic lifestyle in 2007 when I moved to Denver, CO for further medical education at the University of Colorado, Denver at the Children's Hospital Colorado.  Initially I was interested in healing my injuries sustained during running and to ease into weight loss that had just accumulated over years of stressful medical training.

Over the past 5 years, I have not only healed physically (injury free, am now my right size and weight - was 195lbs at 5'4'' when i started and am now 135lbs and a size 6 by eating clean and consistent daily yoga practice), but I have also learned so much about healing emotional turmoil, esp at my work place which is the pediatric ICU.  I have a daily meditation practice that adds so much to my everyday life, teaching me how to breathe through the stress (and not turn to emotinal eating).

I regularly update my learning with nutrition seminars, yoga teacher trainings, meditation seminars, and even those including Ayurvedic medicine.  Being a self starter and a self learner - it is important to me to continue to grow physically, spiritually, and mentally.

My next quest will be to graduate fully after a month long 'internship'  from the wonderful company of Corepower Yoga and teach power yoga/vinyasa yoga in a combination style of Iyengar and Ashtanga flow yoga.  Through Corepower, I am also trained in the Bikram-like tradition of Hot Yoga, which I am also certified to teach.  In the fall of 2012, I will take 'yoga fit' or what Corepower calls 'yoga sculpt' training, which is a wonderful way to introduce yoga to the American public in a form similar to aerobics/weights.

Being a doctor, my interest in is keeping my class members safe, showing modifications, giving demonstrations, and assisting them to reach their potential with each class, but not overdo, so that they may return the next day rejuvented and ready for more classes.
