Karla is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor and is an E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) with the Yoga Alliance of North America. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher training certification in Indonesia through Prana Yoga College International. She also id advanced training in therapeutic yoga at Kripalu. Karla also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Karla has also been a guest teacher for a Yoga Alliance certified 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.
Karla offers Hatha Yoga classes. The classes are appropriate for absolute beginners, and can be modified to suit all skill levels. This type of yoga provides a meditative, low-impact workout with the aim of achieving balance on the physical, mental, emotional, and energetic levels. Physical postures are practiced in an intuitive sequence, with an emphasis on balanced breathing, physical awareness, proper alignment, and safety. Each class results in the experience of increased strength, improved flexibility, rejuvenation and relaxation.
Karla approaches teaching yoga from a perspective of understanding first-hand the stresses that various environments and activities place on our bodies and our minds. She is enthusiastic about promoting yoga as a means to restore and maintain health and well-being, which has multi-faceted benefits regardless of age or skill level.
