Karen Thompson has Certifications from BASI (Body Arts and Science International) in all equipment and Pilates Mat classes. She danced on Broadway, in films and industrial shows throughout her career. She is continually furthering her education and also received certifications from Pilates Method Alliance and STOTT Pilates in Reformer and ISP (focus on injuries and special populations: pregnancy, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis etc).
Pilates is a body-weight workout that develops muscular strength and endurance. Mat work enhances body awareness and improves balance, coordination, posture and alignment. Exercises focus on developing abdominal and back strength, spinal mobility and stability, lateral flexion and rotation, and flexibility. Pilates is an ideal, non-impact, full-body workout for beginning exercisers and cross-training athletes alike.
