My Yoga Journey
(Not sure why yogi's always have their bios in 3rd person, but figured I should follow suit)
Jodie actually didn’t have the usual start in yoga that most yoga teachers experience. She tried yoga about 10 years ago and was not a fan!  She thought the studio smelled like feet, it was too mellow for her crazy personality and she just didn’t get it!  But then…………………………..

About 3 years ago she tried it again for a friend’s birthday party and fell in love with yoga.  She discovered that all you need to fall in love with yoga is to find the right yoga teacher to fit your personality. Once you find the right class & teacher, you too can discover how yoga can change your life.

She committed to making yoga a part of her life.  Following her bliss, in 2011, Jodie trained to become an instructor at Shamrock Wellness with Linda and Eric Banter (mother and son yoga gurus). She has also had the privilege of studying with some incredible yoga gurus from around the country!  David Romanelli, Pasha Hogan, Yoga Joe, Les Leventhal, Janet Stone, Jonny Kest, Chris Kilham, Dr. John Douillard & Seane Corn, just to name a few.

She loves to help students discover the beauty of the breath, the ease of movement and the acceptance of self. She wants to teach you to become mindful of yourself and the world around you. She loves the feeling that when you leave a yoga class you feel like you just left a massage and have a tremendous feeling of peace.

She likes to teach a
Vinyasa Flow style of yoga with a warm up, vinyasa flow and savasana (relaxation) at the end. Music is also a big part of her life and she brings that element into her classes with alternative music with meaningful lyrics. Her classes are athletic in nature, combining asanas (poses) with deep relaxation to build strength, flexibility, concentration and balance all set to great music. What more could you ask for in a class?

Always emphasizing the practice of honoring the body's current state of being, students are guided by Jodie to explore all the possibilities yoga has to improve the health and well-being of the mind, body and soul.

Jodie decided to become a certified yoga teacher so that she could help people de-stress, and find their inner peace in this fast paced, demanding world.  She encourages her students to become mindful and to honor their own body. Jodie hopes that people will come to view yoga as a refuge, a place to come and immediately upon entering her class begin to feel the stress melt away. She wants to work with trauma victims, students and anyone and everyone that is open minded and wants to find their inner zen in this crazy world.

Jodie has a BA in Psychology from Indiana University, is a residential real estate broker for Halakar Residential and also works as an Account Executive for BMG Event Productions. She is married to Ralph who is an IronMan, runs marathons & is president of commercial real estate company Newmark, Knight, Frank, Halakar. Her son plays lacrosse for Carmel High School & is a caddy at Crooked Stick Golf Course and her daughter does competitive cheerleading for Speed Athletics & sings in a band @ School of Rock.  When not doing yoga, Jodie loves to play tennis (life is all about balancing your activities), shopping & designing clothing, live music & concerts, spending time with friends & family, events, parties, and traveling.

She looks forward to meeting you and helping you on your own journey!

Namaste,

Jodie
