I am fortunate to be among a small percent of people who get paid to do what they love. I have played tennis for 37 years, and still have plenty of fist pumps left. I came to the United States to Play College Tennis and realized my childhood dream. I am Married with two great daughters and my whole family plays competative tennis. I love the game and love what I do ,so it's only fitting that my tennis program be base on......" Fun, Fundermentals , and a forever love of the game!"
My clients will tell you that I sing in my lessons to keep it fun and and energetic. My favorite is " ...is ya knee ontopa ya toe..." in a jamaican accent to promote weight transfer in the groundstrokes, and when they do it right I follow it up with a " ya maan, ya maan, ya!". Relaxing on court is important because tennis is a rubbing game , not a hitting game. That's why we call them "strokes".
Teaching of any sport is so developmentally appropriate by age and sex. Ladies and juniors take lessons at a higher frequency than men. I guess it's the old stereotype that men don't want to stop to get help with directions. One of my favorite lessons is with men, because like the inquisitive boy of their youth, they love to see the nuts and bolts of the strokes, and how they work. Men are so reluctant to take lessons and it is great to see their excitement as they put the pieces together.
Thanks for considering me as a candidate, I can't wait to share my passion.....Richard.
