My fitness path started with the replacement of a bad habit (drinking) with a good habit (running) in 2006. My goal was to run a full marathon in 2007; however, I knew that I was not prepared for the distance of 26.2 miles so I shifted to the half marathon instead. Since then, I have run 22 half marathons all around the United States. An avid runner, I initially started my training using the Galloway Method, a method which I recommend to all beginning runners.
Since that first race, I have evolved in my interests. I have competed in two figure (bodybuilding) competitions, as well as several sprint triathlons. My experience as a participant in these events has strengthened and deepened my understanding of training others.
I am currently the Secretary of the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati. In addition to serving on the board, I am also the Race Director for certain races.
In the past year, I have earned certifications from the Road Runners Club of America, the National Council of Strength and Fitness, and Newton Natural Running Form Coach program. Initially, I earned these certifications to help me with my own improvements as a runner, bodybuilder, and all around health enthusiast. I quickly found, though, that people were turning to me for advice, coaching, and training plans, which is a path I continue to pursue. In 2012, I formed Whatever Fits, LLC, as a service to individuals to help them reach their individualized fitness goals.
