I have always been an active person. I planned to play volleyball in college, but ended up receiving an acedemic scholarship I could not pass up. When I got to college, my dad started signing me up for half marathons and I got into a triathlon circuit in Omaha. I had lifeguarded in high school and in college and when my University's water aerobics instructor left, the wellness cooridinator asked me to fill in. I taught for 6 months and recieved on online certification because the college would not pay to send me to a workshop. Because I was an avid cyclist and had been going to cycling classes for years, the wellness cooridinator also asked me to start teaching cycling. I began to realize that fitness is the greatest job in the world, nothing is better than getting paid to workout. I love the fitness industry and believe I have the greatest job, however, I never wanted fitness to become job-like. My degrees are in Creative Writing and Spanish (I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2011), and I am currently working toward my Master's in Creative Writing.
Because of my experience, my boss at Pinnacle Fitness Club, Lori Bakker, hired me on the agreement that I would get my AFAA certification. I taught for four months and then completed my AFAA workshop. My classes at Pinnacle are some of the largest at the club and through my swim coaching, I have been one of the highest grossing trainers. I have been featured in the Omaha World Herald twice in 2012, once in coordinace with the University of Nebraska at Omaha to talk about fitness after college and once for my Yoga/Pilates fusion class at Pinnacle, a class full of men, that focused on men in Yoga and Pilates.
My three favorite things in life are being active, reading and traveling. I have always thought that a position teaching class at a resort would be one of the greatest jobs ever, and potenially a great way for me to use my Spanish one day. I can read, write and listen fluently in my second language, however, I have not lived abroad long enough to feel that I am fluent speaking. I have traveled all over Europe, lived in Lima, Peru, but have never been to a resort or many places in or around the United States. This would be the opportunity of a lifetime!
