My passion for the fitness industry started in 2007 after being a strength and conditioning intern and going through many trials and experiences from other jobs. As a rugby player (7 years and going), I wanted to train myself to become a better athlete, while helping my teammates as well. My coaching philosophy is to motivate and inspire individuals as they are pushed beyond their limits they previously thought they could not surpass.

I believe it’s really important to understand special populations while personal training.  Everyone cannot train the same way and certain conditions (diabetes, hypertension, morbid obesity, osteoarthritis, sport injuries) limit their abilities to perform some exercises; however, that’s why personal trainers should have the knowledge to be creative and work around those limitations.  Everyone should be able to perform physical activity to improve their health, stay fit, relieve stress, feel confident, and just have fun.

On the other side of that, I coached the UT Women’s Rugby Club during the Fall 2010 – Spring 2011 season.  I love being around sports and being able to push athletes beyond their already motivated mindset.  I incorporated many conditioning drills throughout practice and during their Fall Season, they were 8-3!
Being an athlete myself, I find sports injuries interesting.  As my graduating project, I wrote a literature review on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries titled, “Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Prehabilitation Programs:  Are They Effective in Changing Landing Biomechanics?”  Following that review I created my own ACL prehabilitation program based off of other programs such as KLIP, WIPP, PEP Program, and an ACL article from Mike Boyle; mine was titled, Prehabilitation & Improved Performance for Athletes (PIPA).
