I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Institute in Stockbridge, MA. Currently, I am a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association. During my time at Kripalu I learned the principles of classic yoga asanas (postures) including proper alignment, essential details, and pratapana (warm-up exercises/inquiries). I acquired many skills for transformational teaching including, but not limited to, how to create inspirational, creative, experiential yoga classes wtih progressive levels of difficulty; pranayama (breath control) techniques that enable students to experience body-mind integration; relaxation and meditation methodology for centering, creating sacred space, and guiding students in deeply restorative savasana (relaxation); and the "press point" assisting methodology and other assists to guide students into the fullest expression of each posture for their bodies Our daily activities were designed to cultivate mindfulness and compassion both on and off the mat. While at Kripalu, I participated in co-listening and reflective listening training seminars and attended workshops on self-care and self-development. I am proficient in principles of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology including a functional understanding of skeletomuscular systems and structures.
I completed my wellness coach training program through Wellcoaches Corporation (endorsed by the American College of Sports Medicine). This training, in addition to my passion for health, wellness, and helping others on their journey to greater well-being gave me many skills to be a successful wellness coach both personally and professionally. My exceptional communication (written and verbal), listening, and interpersonal skills enhance my ability to build rapport, trust, and establish a safe space for conducting coaching sessions. My expertise in conducting coaching sessions include (but are not limited to) evaluating client assessments, session open/close, generative coaching moments, and co-constructing client wellness vision, plans, and SMART goals. I have a thorough knowledge in theories and application of behavior change methodology specifically as it relates to behavioral and positive psychology, appreciative inquiry, and motivational interviewing. Furthermore, I bring with me a thorough knowledge in theories, application, and processes of conscious communication, specifically non-violent/compassionate communication.
