Open Hearted Teacher |
Erin Nowak has always be interested in fitness. While an undergraduate student at the College of St Elizabeth she studied foods and nutrition and played varsity level basketball as a Lady Eagle. In 2003, she took her nutrition and fitness expertise to a new level when she opened Curves in Gibbstown, NJ. In 2011, after more than 2 years practicing yoga daily, she decided to become a 200-hour certified yoga teacher through the Dhyana Yoga tradition. While in this rigorous training process, she befriended Erik Burling and the two decided to open YogaSpace at Bethesda Project. Their mission is to treat the transitional homeless with yoga and meditation classes. In addition to her work there, Erin continues to teach private yoga lessons and hones her teaching skills daily. She recently became certified in teaching Yin Yoga and will attend a weeklong workshop in creating a Sound Sadhana and Yogic Lifestyle, July 9-13. She participates in weekly guided meditation and pranayama classes through The Art of Living and Amitayus Kadampa Buddhist Center. Even though Erin maintains a very active practice and teaching career, Erin continues to offer nutritional counseling and cooking lessons. Erin has lived abroad for many years. She is fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
