I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and have had a passion for sports and fitness my entire life. After having kids, I managed to pack on 40 unflattering pounds without even trying. After making the commitment to myself and changing my mindset from impossible to absolutely possible, I tackled my weight with exercise and nutrition - two major components of a healthy lifestyle. I firmly believe if you change your mind, your body will follow.
Although I lead an active lifestyle (I teach yoga and spin, lift weights, and play ice hockey), I can easily gain weight if I don't watch my caloric intake. Eating fruity pebbles at 9pm is bad too. In 2009 I began to study for my Certified Personal Training certificate from the NSCA and became certified in the spring of 2010. I am also CPR/First aid certified from the American Red Cross, certified from MadDog Spinning as a Spin instructor, have completed the 300 hour teacher training certification from Restorative Flow Yoga, am certified as a U12 coach by USA Hockey, and host nutrition based weight loss challenges at my studio in Michigan.
I have discovered the most essential ingredient of a healthy and injury-free lifestyle is the daily practice of yoga. It is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards 'a healthy mind in a healthy body'. Humans are a physical, mental and spiritual being and yoga helps promote a balanced development of all the three.
