I have been physically active since the age of 5 whether it was dancing, swimming, riding bikes, judo, or weightlifting. I have discovered more recently, however, that I have a serious passion for health and fitness and in 2009 I decided it was time for a career change.
I began my new journey by attending the International Aquatic Fitness Conference (IAFC)in Orlando, FL in April 2009. This is where I received my AEA certification and spent 4 days taking workshops from the most talented instructors from all over the world. I found myself so inspired by the world of aquatic fitness that I started to look for a place to teach as soon as I got home. In June 2009 I started working at Life Time Fitness as an Aqua Fitness Instructor teaching the basic water aerobic class and also Water Circuit.
While in attendance of the IAFC in 2009, I witnessed the debut of Aqua Zumba. I had been a salsa dancer since 2003 and had been doing Zumba at home (with a VHS tape!) for about as long. Now I was really excited knowing I could take those moves to the pool as well. In November 2009 I received my license to teach Zumba (Basics 1). I taught in a small studio to start with just to get some experience and then got hired on a several other gyms and studios. I went on to get my Aqua Zumba, Zumba Basics 2, and Zumba Toning licenses.
In 2010 I started my own company, Fits Personal, and now offer personal training, boot camp, and nutrition consultation. In July 2012 I recieved my CrossFit-Level 1 certificate and intern at CrossFit North Alpharetta. I still instruct Aqua Fitness, Water Circuit, Zumba and Aqua Zumba as well as Stretch & Balance, at Life Time Fitness in Alpharetta, GA.
