Erica Seningen

I am a 38 year old fitness professional. Relatively speaking, I got into the business a little late. I had always been involved with health and fitness at a younger age, but only as a participant, not as an instructor. At about age 30, I decided that this hobby could become a part-time occupation after I had children and left a full-time career. I received a local certification and began working under seasoned instructors at a YMCA close to my office. I began subbing classes in the evenings and on weekends, and a short time later began holding my own classes. After I retired from my full-time profession, I stayed at home with my daughter and decided to pursue a more challenging club environment and auditioned with the Group Exercise Fitness Director at World Gym. I was hired (on the premise that I would become certified by AFAA, which I did) and worked at that club as a GGX instuctor for step, interval, pilates and sculpting classes for 2 years, during which time I received my certification with DSA to teach a Pilates mat program. In the late 1990's, WG was bought out by Gold's Gym and at that time, I transferred my employment there. GG brought in new programs which required instructors to attain additional certifications from an organization called Les Mills International (formerly known as Body Training Systems). We currently provide several of their programs to our members of which I am certified to teach BodyPump (a resistance training program), BodyStep (aerobic training utilizing a step) and BodyFlow (a blending of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates). I remain very commited to my continuing education of a strong wellness program and I am current on all my certification requirements.
