Yoga has been a vehicle for change and growth for me, as well as a path for achieving balance in my life. I was originally drawn to the practice of yoga eight years ago due to the calming affect it had on my body, and it offered a different type of workout then other classes. As opposed to other athletic exercise activities, I found that yoga was providing a myriad of benefits that included toning, increased muscle strength, flexibility, and energy. Due to the connection of breath, movement, strength, and mindfulness, I am attracted to Vinyasa & Power yoga, and was inspired to become an instructor. Vinyasa yoga is the steady flow of postures, connected to breath. Power yoga focuses on the core muscles as the foundation to all postures and strength. I completed my 200 hour Teacher Training through CorePower Yoga, and continue my education through additional trainings or workshops. I have been teaching for nearly 4 years, and teaching Power Vinyasa with Portland State University, Campus Rec since 2010.
I have a strong desire to share my love for yoga with others, and help students achieve their own unique expression of yoga. Within my Power Vinyasa classes, I guide students through a flow of traditional physical postures (asana), but also use creative sequencing and music in order to create a motivating experience. I act as a guide to inspire and assist individuals discover their own physical strength, and encourage students to listen to their bodies. My goal is to set students up for success, and provide a safe, inclusive environment for all students to explore and grow their own practice of yoga. I invite students of all abilities to attend my class, and hope that together we can nourish your physical and mental wellbeing. Namaste!
