John has been practicing yoga for five years. He was introduced in high school by his art teacher Carol Castellan, who is now a fellow yoga teacher. Carol had started a yoga club and John, having always been interested in meditation, astral projection, and eastern culture, began attending her weekly classes. Initially yoga was a way for him to stretch his muscles from playing soccer every day, but it quickly grew into a more spiritual practice.
After attending Emmanuel College in Boston for three semesters John decided to take some time off to think about what he really wanted to study. He ended up completing Dover Yoga’s 200 Hour Rasamaya training in December of 2010.
Normally John will start his classes off by reading a poem as students calm themselves in Savasana, and will then go on to create a unique class environment by using playful transitions and music to take students deeper into their practice. As a teacher he tries to bring his students to a child like state of mind without sacrificing the sincerity of the practice.

When John isn’t teaching you can find him hiking, making bread, playing with his cats, or playing Frisbee.
