I'm a 47 year old who got into group cycle (spinning) instruction at the request of my wife.  You see, after so many years of listening to me complain about different spin instructors at the gym, and her saying, "if you have such opinions on how a class should be taught, why not teach it yourself", I took it to heart.  I completed my group exercise and group cycle certification in 2004 and have been teaching a couple times a week ever since.

Outdoor cycling is my hobby, but living in MN the riding season is 6-8 months at best.  Indoor group cycle keeps me fit, and instructing is a super way to coach and get to the gym regularly.
