Melanie Buffett

Melanie Buffett is the founder of Yoga Birds a yoga studio and lifestyle company based out of Fairhope Alabama. Teaching 10+ years her classes are a masterful blend of 17 years of training and practice in alignment, vinyasa, and therapeutic yoga. She has created and facilitated three Yoga Teacher Trainings at Yoga Birds from which 30+ new yoga teachers have graduated, contributing to the yoga boom that has finally reached ‘Lower Alabama’. Yoga Birds (a Registered Yoga School with the National Yoga Alliance since 2009) and Melanie have been pioneers on the yoga front since her return home from California and New Orleans in 2008. From the scenic Bluff over Mobile Bay to the funky studios of New Orleans to the banks of the Ganges River in Varanasi India, she is honored to offer yoga teachings and practices to guide students to the wisdom of the Inner Teacher. Her most cherished privilege has been the time, attention, and dedication given by the countless students who have attended her classes. Melanie has been featured in Mobile Bay Magazine and Coastal Alabama Magazine and several local newspaper articles. She was honored in 2010 with a leadership award from  the Women’s Business Center Alliance and named one of Mobile’s ’40 Under 40’ for business and community achievements.  A life-long student, she is as well a registered yoga teacher with the highest designation of ERYT500 through the National Yoga Alliance.

Along with her fertile YogiPod blog, Melanie has written a comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training Manual for a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Training. She is a featured contributor to Coastal Woman Magazine. She is also an avid seamstress and designer passionate about sustainable, creative, functional clothing that inspire confidence and comfort for healthy active bodies and lifestyles.
