I am a natural born dancer so if I'm going to exercise I prefer it to be dance based, which is why I enjoy teaching Zumba so much.  My dance background is latin dancing in various shows in Miami as well as Go Go Dancing in staged shows and free style to techno, hip hop, and popular music of the times.

I've been teaching Zumba since 2006 and enjoy the format so much because of the variety of music I can choose.  My classes are part Latin music and I throw in popular dance songs, belly dancing numbers, hula dance, bhangra, etc.  I would also say my classes are more like Pilates because it's not as high impact as most but I do concentrate on the core with strong hip movements.  Being in my class is like practicing to be in a dance show.  And I like to think that I try and help people find their rhythm if they feel they don't have any.

I also teach Hula Hoop Dance which I have alot of fun with because you don't just stand there and hoop, you learn how to dance around with the hoop.  Most people remember hula hooping when they were much younger but haven't picked one up since then.  It's a joy to see their face light up when they see that they haven't forgotten how to do it.  Imagine when they start dancing around with it.  It's also a great core workout.

Anything that has to do with dance is my kind of exercise, actually having fun while you workout!
