Patrick Turner is a native of Birmingham, Alabama where his dance career began at the Alabama School of the Fine Arts performing in such theatre/musical productions as Grease and the Wizard of Oz. After attending Kentucky State University and receiving a bachelor degree in Public Administration, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he received extensive training in ballet, modern, jazz and improvisation under the instruction of Mark Wheeler and Janet Robinson at the University of Georgia. Mr. Turner has been the recipient of numerous scholarships to attend various prestigious arts programs such as Dance Theater of Harlem, Alvin Ailey and Ballethnic Academy of Dance.
Patrick accepted a scholarship with Ballethnic Academy of Dance and performed with the company such pieces as The Urban Nutcracker, Shadows, Leopard Tales, The Legend and Psychedelia. Patrick continued his dance career by joining Festival Ballet Company under the direction of Gregory Aaron and Nicolas Pacana in 2000. As a company member he has performed such ballets as Alice in Wonderland, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Symphony in C and Beauty and the Beast. Since then Patrick has trained and worked with company venues as the 1996 Olympics, For Sisters Only, Garth Fagan, Philadanco, Soweto African Street Beats, Dance Avant, Mississippi Ballet, Fayette Ballet, and Dance for Everyone Company. He has been on the teaching Staff of Norma’s Dance Academy, Jacob Dance Academy, Dancers Corner, and Westend Performance Arts Center. In 2001, Patrick was hired as the Artistic Director for the Fayette School of the Performing Arts where his choreography entitled, ”Crunk” won the MTV award in the Star Power jazz and hip-hop competition.
