Catherine Guzik

Catherine has experience in a variety of dance styles including Salsa, African, Ballet, Samba and Flamenco. She has studied ballet for over 15 years, completing her Royal Academy of Dance Intermediate Ballet Certification under the instruction of Avril Johns.  Catherine's greatest passion is for Latin style dances which she was first introduced to while studying and working with children in Costa Rica and Mexico. This led to her love of Brazilian dance styles which she has been studying since 2006. She performed with Axe Capoeira for 3 years.  She currently performs with Samba Fusion Dance group (www.sambafusion.com).  She recently opened her own dance studio where she teaches Zumba and dance classes (www.danzaireproductions.com) 

In 2004, Catherine used her dance experience to perform a medley of dances in a talent show sponsored by Samsung. As the second place winner, she won the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch for the Athens Olympics.​

In addition to her dance skills, Catherine is an experienced athlete and fitness enthusiast. She was a competitive Varsity Track Athlete and figure skater and worked for many years as a swim instructor and lifeguard. She has completed her NCCP coaching & BCPRA group fitness, and Zumba certification.

Catherine also has extensive experience working in special events.  With degrees in Social Work and International relations, she has worked for Alberta Ballet, the G8 Summit, International Children's festival and the 2010 Winter Olympics as well as many other community based events.
