Bio...

My initial experience with the world of yoga was in 2000 as a student at Kent State University.  Although my initial experience wasn't one of revelation I shortly thereafter tore my ACL playing rugby.  Following two knee surgeries and considerable discomfort I turned to yoga as a means to return to the active lifestyle I had previously enjoyed.  Thanks to yoga I have been on an ongoing path of self discovery that is not only physical but mental.

Attending Beth Shaw's Yogafit 200-HR RYT program I found that there can be a world free of competitive dogmas.  Through yoga I have learned to relish the journey as opposed to simply focusing on the destination which has afforded me relaxation as well as a sense of the here and now which I attempt to share in my practice.  I have found that the mental and physical awareness in which I strive to share can be obtained via physically challenging one's mind and body. In my class I draw from a background in group and individual fitness training and a love of music to create a stimulating and invigorating environment that aims towards an athletically focused vinyasa flow.  Throughout the practice you will find a diverse array of music from Yo-Yo Ma, Bach and Krishna Das all the way to Michael Franti, Sting and The Grateful Dead.

I have been influenced by many yogis over my tenure and hope that the inspiration that I have gained and will continue to gain will be translated to all yogis that practice with me.  I look for a class that is strenuous yet grounded.  I believe that even at a very intense level all students can listen to and feel their bodies and make the practice their own.  All levels of yogi will enjoy my class as there are modifications to make poses more vigorous and less vigorous.

I aim to develop a symbiosis of the mind and body in each class which then may transcend into everyday life.  I believe the lessons that we each learn on our mats as practitioners can be incorporated into our daily routines.

Walking away from my class you should feel like your mind and body just took one deep breath with one long exhalation!
