Bonjour! Hello! ¡Hola!
My name is Christine Morin-Fortin and I am from Canada’s National Capital Region.
I have always been living a healthy lifestyle. But, as a sick child, I never had enough energy to do all the activity I wanted. After receiving a kidney transplant in 2001, the kidney was from my father, my fitness journey really started.
2001 – Starting my dance training with Master of Egyptian Dance: Denise Enan.
2002 – First dive in the fitness world. I start to take spinning classes.
2003 – I start teaching belly dance classes and I am now exploring the benefits of muscle training/cardio.
2004 – I start teaching belly dance at my local gym… from there, I will start teaching in 3 different gym facilities and for other organizations. I work out on a regular basis, followed by a personal trainer. My main goal is mostly the great feeling I get after a workout.
2008 – I develop a very strong interest for Athletic Conditionning and Crossfit.
2009 – I participate in the establishment of a Crossfit program at the gym where I have been teaching since 2004. I start as a co-instructor for the Crossfit classes. I start as an instructor for a bodyweight exercises class, an athletic conditioning class, a TRX class and start attending fitness conference and workshop with Énergie Cardio .
2010 – TRX certification
2011 – Zumba Basics 1 Certification and I start my group fitness Certification with the YMCA
2012 – Zumba Basics 2 certification. My Zumba Fitness carreer is expanding. I’m teaching at events everywhere in town. I also have the great opportunity to be taught by International Zumba Education Specialist Jaime Farfan. This year I am only teaching Zumba and Belly Dancing. My interest and the demand for Zumba are so high that this is all I teach.
2013 – My final exam to be certified as a Fitness instructor is in February. My apprenticeship has been completed already. I plan on getting my FIS with Canfitpro equivalence afterwards.
My plans for 2013 are to get my Sports Nutrition Certification in May with the YMCA. I will also get my Zumba Toning and Zumba Gold certification. I am also considering Zumbatomic training (Zumba for kids.)
So this is my journey so far. My biggest goal is to help as many people as possible to realize how a healthy lifestyle can be simple, fun and truly for everyone.
I know how lucky I am to be healthy, I wish that people will appreciate what they have a cherish it.
Thank you!
