Originally from Wisconsin, I moved to Colorado in August of 2008 and attend college at Northern Arizona University, majoring in Secondary Education- Spanish. I was relatively unhealthy when beginning my college career, but found a love of exercise and health and wellness during my first semester. At the advice of my brother, who will be graduating cum laude from Parker Chiropractic in Texas in April, I began to weightlift and walk/run. After I began losing weight, I noticed that I wasn't as flexible as I wanted to be, nor was I particularly comfortable: my joints felt terrible and my muscles were constantly sore. I began yoga shortly after and fell in love immediately: I'd always heard the excellence of yoga, but I had to experience it for myself. My peace of mind has become increasingly more and more prominent, and my overall health and wellness is spectacular. My first yoga instructor inspired me then and still inspires me today. She's the reason why I became a yoga instructor in the first place.
After practicing in Arizona for a few years and in Costa Rica for a few months, I decided to embark on the adventure of instructing yoga. I took the NAU Group FIT Mind and Body first, mastering some very basic techniques of yoga. When I auditioned for a job at Northern Arizona University, they offered it to me on the spot and offered to pay my way through YogaFit Level 1 certification. Since becoming YogaFit certified, I have taught a group of older adults in a Yuletide Yoga for Desk Workers session at a local community college and will soon be offering a Yoga for Snow Bunnies at a local community center; since I live in the mountains, this is perfect for the community. I also teach yoga as a Group Exercise instructor at my university. I am passionate about helping people and leading them to their better selves, and therefore work to create personalized plans to groups of people in order to achieve wellness at a higher function. I have also contacted chiropractors and trainers of all of the leading Arizona sports teams to work with them and their patients.
