- Lily Hockley
My name is Lily Hockley. I am an RYS-200 yoga instructor, I am also CPR/AED and first aid certified, with my own liability insurance and a past EMT-Basic certification. I received my Yoga instructor training from Corepower, in the style of Power Yoga and am currently in their extensions program which is considered 30 hours of continuing education for yoga instructors. I have a very well rounded practice and the ability to teach more calming styles of yoga as well.
"
Lily began her study of yoga in 2007. At the time she was an
exchange student in South Africa living with a Hindu family. Due to gang
violence she was rarely allowed to leave their house. After quickly finishing
all of the books she had brought for herself during her stay, she began finding
books to read around the house. The moment she found a book on yoga, she began
to practice. Feeling cooped up she wanted to find a way to move her body in a
smaller space. She soon found that the mental benefits were even more incredible
than the physical benefits. Shortly after forming a regular practice, the
family decided that she should not be allowed to practice yoga during the day,
because they felt it was an anti-social activity. Yoga had become such an important
part of her ability to stay mentally healthy through the hardships of her
exchange that she began waking up at 5:30 am, to practice while everyone was
still asleep.
Since this experience she has continued to study with many
teachers in various styles of yoga. She is now a registered yoga teacher, in
the style of Power Yoga, but has the ability to work with a variety of people
with a variety of yogic needs.
She has a deep personal understanding of chakras and the
flow of energy in the body as well as western "scientific" human anatomy, and
the deep yogic philosophies."
