- Shan Alphin
She has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Georgia where she concentrated in Cardiac Rehabilitation. She was then the Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Queen’s Medical Center in Hawaii for three years where she also became a qualified Mind Body Medical Institute Instructor teaching Hatha Yoga and Relaxation Exercises to patients. She found it very interesting to see first hand how mediation and gentle stretching enhanced a traditional rehabilitation program. She then moved to North Carolina where she was the Director of the Duke Fitness Center, which was a large hospital-based wellness center. For the past several years Shan has traveling the world with her famliy, enjoying all the benefits of the expat life, but feeling a little lost.
Shan moved to the UK over two years ago and came to Cobham Pilates as a client. She absolutely loved working on the Reformer and became hooked on Pilates. Through working with a Dietician and doing Pilates 3x a week she over 30 pounds. So empowered by the transformation in her own body, she trained and qualified with Body Control Pilates. She is now teaching Mat, Reformer, and Studio Circuit classes at Cobham Pilates Studio. Most of all, she loves watching people transform their bodies and their lives through Pilates.
