Melinda Kausek

 

 

Somewhere between studying dance and English literature in college, Melinda Erin Kausek discovered Pilates. Within a few weeks of regular practice, she saw rapid changes in her body. Not only could she dance with more power and freedom, but her new core strength eliminated the back and neck pain brought on by the constant sitting and typing of her first full-time office job. A few years later, her first official Pilates teacher encouraged her to pursue her certification. Now a Pilates Method Alliance® Certified Pilates Teacher, she spends her days helping others achieve the same strength and freedom in their own bodies.

Melinda loves many things about Pilates, but it’s ability to unlock the body’s innate intelligence continues to inspire her daily. She has a deep appreciation for the invigorating flow of the classical choreography, but tailors her session to each person she works with and incorporates other techniques and modalities where appropriate. As an instructor, she tries to find a balance of both depth and flow, humor and poetry, teaching her clients to connect with their bodies in a mindful way, while having fun and getting a great workout.

Beyond her basic training, Melinda has completed The Center for Women’s Fitness Prenatal and Postpartum Pilates Specialist Program and has studied Janda’s Neuromuscular Re-patterning techniques under Lizz Roman. She is also a credentialed TRX® Trainer. She continues to study anatomy and other movement forms such as Feldenkrais, Yoga, and dance as a way to further develop her teaching skills.
