If I had a different life, one without hubby and kids, I think I would have been the activities director on a cruise ship (or a star on Broadway, except I can't sing!) I love to travel and party, and without needing a drink, I am always the first one on the dance floor. I am extremely outgoing and often annoy and embarrass my children by striking up conversations with people on the grocery checkout line or the beach. Though I am a very safe and effective personal trainer, anyone will tell you that I truly shine in a room full of fitness participants. My goals are fun, effectiveness, and safety. I try to drive home form form form through fun phrases, demos and excellent cuing refined over (gulp) 20 years of teaching! I love teaching beginners and also going nuts with my regulars who have it all together and can really push themselves. As a veteran teacher, however, I know that I will rarely get a class in which everyone is at the same level, so I offer options. I tell participants to choose the one that is right for them today, and not to worry about what anyone else is doing.
I taught at Sandals Royal Carribean in Jamaica several years back, and was told that I did a great job, but as I have been growing both a business and a family, I have not gone away for a long time.
I started teaching yoga in my basement studio in 2003 (while I still worked at a gym).
In 2005 I started renting space at a dance studio.
In 2010 I leased a small studio
January 1 2012 I opened Heron Creek Yoga (1,500 sq feet) in a strip mall and have had a very successful first year.
I can understand people with accents and am great at Charades, which has led me to be chief communicator and interepreter whenever I have travelled. I can get by in French and Italian.
I have an Honours BA in English from Wellesley College, Wellesley MA
