Kristy Honan

I have been working in the field of Mind, Body, Spirit healing and development for the last 14 years. I played University soccer in Alabama for two years until I sustained a soccer injury that required surgery. I felt lost and confused on the direction of my life, until I took my first Yoga class. Yoga became the foundation and starting point into my lifetime passion and career of holistic healing and self-discovery. I found myself through this work and it is something that I use everyday with my clients as a Shamanic healer and Psychologist.

In the beginning years of teaching Yoga I was more emphasized on the physical aspects. I worked with athletes for a number of years at Sports academy's such as Hockey and Soccer. I was also given the opportunity to work for a number of elite athletes in the NHL during their off seasons.

As my journey of self-discovery began to deepen so did my understanding and connection with Yoga. I began to explore the other components (Spiritual, Mental, Emotional) aspects of Yoga. I took a number of positions at various studios and gyms throughout Edmonton, Alberta, where I was able to secure full-time work. I was teaching 24 classes a week and offering private lessons to many of the connections I had made.

Naturally as my own personal journey toward self expanded, so did my understanding of the mind-body connection. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Women and Indigenous Studies as well as, my Masters in Counselling Psychology. Furthermore, I began heaing and training with an Indigenous Medicine Man and have been for the past 3 years. Shamanic healing, counselling psychology and yoga are the foundational components of my work today.

I currently teach Yoga 2 x a week and utilize it daily in my sessions with clients. I love to teach and guide my clients back into themselves and allow them to strengthen their own connection with mind, body, spirit. I often utilize meditation and guided imagery to encourage nervous system regulation and self-awareness and inquiry. My main forms of Yoga I use are Vinyasa flow (connection with breathe and movement), Yin, and Hatha.
