Chrissy started her athletic career at 4 years old at The Dance Center of Ashburnham (now Winchendon). She trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and lyrical dance until she was 13 years old.
She is a Fitchburg High School graduate, class of 2007, and was active in the Red Raider athletic community. She was a varsity cheerleader her freshman year for the Red Raider football team. After the football season was over, the girls’ track and field coach and her mother urged her to join the girls’ track and field team—and she never looked back. She competed in the sprints, pole vault, and occasionally the pentathlon. In her time at Fitchburg High School, she broke school records in outdoor track in the 200m dash, 4x100m relay, pole vault, and the team pentathlon score.
After graduating from Fitchburg High, she attended University of Massachusetts Lowell to study English with a writing concentration. She competed in NCAA Division II for the Riverhawks for two years. She scored in every NE-10 Conference Championship and was 2010 NE-10 Conference Champion in the women’s pole vault (indoor track). She also broke both the indoor and outdoor school records.
After competing for two years, she transferred to University of Massachusetts Amherst to compete for the Minutemen/Minutewomen in NCAA Division I. There she also scored in every A10 Conference Championship and graduated in 2012 as the 5th best all-time in the women’s pole vault for indoor and outdoor track.
Chrissy first fell in love with Zumba fitness after attending a class with her UMass Amherst teammates in winter training. It combined her love for dance and fitness—and was a lot of fun! She gained Level 1 certification in September 2012 and hopes to gain more certification while she teaches.
She is also a part time student at Mount Wachusett Community College in their Broadcasting and Electronic Media program where she is studying Film & Video Production.
