Bio
Melissa has embraced transformation through her personal yoga practice and teaching for many years. She teaches yoga full-time at facilities throughout Atlanta, including Athletic Club Northeast, LOA Fitness for Women, Piedmont Driving Club, and Druid Hills Golf Club and also teaches to a regular base of private yoga and yoga therapy students. Melissa practices and teaches an ashtanga-based vinyasa yoga practice with fun but challenging sequences and transitions and also values and teaches gentle and restorative yoga as a complement to her power classes. Her yoga classes offer a sense of freedom, joy, and connection that students carry with them off the mat.
Melissa is certified as an experienced yoga teacher at the 500-hour level (E-RYT 500), the highest certification recognized by Yoga Alliance. She has completed a 200-hour basic teacher training, 500-hour advanced teacher training, and 300-hour yoga therapy certification and is also certified in pre- and post-natal yoga and fitness instructor through SCW Fitness.
Melissa is also the Co-Director of the Southeast Yoga Conference (formerly the Atlanta Yoga Conference), which will be held for its eighth year on October 4-6th, 2013.
She continues to develop her personal yoga practice and yoga teaching by studying with master teachers, including Kathryn Budig, Kino MacGregor, Simon Park, and Natasha Rizopoulos.
