My name is Daveena Babulal. I had been exposed to yoga my entire life, as I was raised in a primarily hindu family of indian descent.
I had always had a very strong meditation and pranayam practice that was taught to me from a young age. I spent many weekends in the temple with my grandmother listening to readings of vedic texts, some of which were directly related to the practice of yoga.
As a teenager I began to practice yoga more regularly as part of my fitness and healthcare routine. As my love for my practice grew, I longed for a deeper undertanding of the roots of yoga, and dreamed of completing my yoga teachers certification initially for the purpose of self-growth and education.
In 2011, I finally decided to pursue my education in yoga with Cynthia Funk at The Yoga Sanctuary in Toronto, where I was living at the time. During my time with her, I began to appreciate the art of teaching, and the role of the guru. I decided that I wanted to facilitate others in thier journey into the mysteries of yoga. Immediately after completing my training, I began to teach, and have been doing so ever since.
