I'm USPTA certified as a Teaching Tennis Coach, I have been playing tennis since I was 16 years old in high school. I have introduced tennis to many people through the years and have thoroughly enjoyed passing on to others my knowledge and enthusiasm for the game. I really enjoy teaching kids, beginners & intermediate students. I enjoy having a positive energy with my students from lessons to drills while we're all having fun & enjoying some laughs along the way.
My teaching/coaching philosophy is to assist the student athlete to picture, in their mind's eye, the proper technique. Establishing the best visual picture for each athlete of the best technique is the challenge for me. I find it most rewarding when the student finally says "I get it!" I also like to have fun when I teach students. After all isn't having fun along with excelling why we are in athletics to begin with? I get just as much enjoyment out of teaching as do the students learning a great new skill.
I have 16 years, at the elite athlete status, as a professional 1/2 cyclist dating from 1992 to 2008. I have competed, often placing, in pro/amateur races throughout the mid-west. I have also taught cycling skills and racing technique to "up and coming" racers in the Madison, WI. area.
As with Tennis & Cycling, I very much relish teaching others to x-country ski. I enjoy giving others a great pastime as a positive to the winter doldrums. I have been teaching beginner to mid-level skiers the past 15 years.
I have also applied my teaching style to the sport of kayaking and have guided 3-5 day Kayak/Camping trips in the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior.
