Tim Howell, 34-year member of USPTA, returns to the Taos Spa for his sixth season of directing the tennis program. Tim has been teaching and coaching tennis full time to all levels and ages, from Pee Wee to Circuit level players for over 38 years.  Tim has seen over 40 of his juniors go on to play Division 1 and 1A college tennis, as well as coaching numerous Adult USTA Sectional and National Championship teams.  The International Council on Aging has also recognized Tim*s innovative senior programs as the leading senior program in the country in 2007.

Prior to coming to Taos, Tim served as Director of Tennis at Highpoint Sports and Wellness in Albuquerque.  Under Tim*s guidance Highpoint*s program was recognized as the leading and largest program in the state, as well as one of the top programs in the Southwest.  Among the awards that his program at Highpoint were presented include: USTA 2003 Tennis Facility of the Year, 2004 USTA Southwest Tennis Welcome Center of the Year, and 2005 USTA Tournament Enrichment Award. Tim has also hosted the Adult USTA Southwest sectional championships for 2004, 2005, and 2006.

 Tim also has spent 13 years of his career as Director of Tennis at the 5 star Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in Ojai, California, one of the premier destination resorts in the US.  His programs have been recognized by TENNIS MAGAZINE and RACQUET MAGAZINE as one of the top 50 places to play tennis in the United States, and have received the prestigious GOLD RACQUET award for member programming on numerous occasions.  In addition Tim has served as tournament director of the USTA Men*s National 30 Hardcourt Championships as well as hosting/directing the Ladies* PAC-10 Championships at the Ojai, one of the oldest and largest tennis tournaments held annually in the country.  Tim*s member program ideas have also been published internationally in the USPTA ADVANTAGE MAGAZINE as well as IRSA MAGAZINE.

Tim attended Bowling Green State University, where he played varsity tennis for 4 years, won the MAC conference championship, and captained the team his senior year. Tim and his wife Linda make their home in Angel Fire.
