In 2009, I discovered Pilates while I was dancing in Germany and met a prima ballerina turned Pilates instructor. I was immediately inspired and realized that studying and teaching Pilates was exactly how I'd love to transition my 20 years of dance/athletics and passion for physical strength/wellness.
What I didn't realize was how helpful Pilates would be in rehabilitating my previously injured knee from an extensive surgery and how much I would learn about developing healthy movement and balanced bodies! I have a love of being able to move freely and feeling strong! Pilates is amazing because it's helped me create both of those things in my body again and because it's taught me how to help others develop them as well. It's fun, healthy, empowering movement and it's for people of any age and (almost) any condition!
I am a fully certified Mat, Reformer and Body Barre Instructor through Balanced Body University out of Sacramento, California. I have studied for 3 years alongside of Master Teacher Ahme Bovee at Pilates In East, Grand Rapids and continue to do so while I teach (and live) in Kalamazoo. I also draw a lot of knowledge from my background in physical therapy, my nursing education/work, and from personal experience (that darn knee injury!)
