Provide strategic leadership and management for three coordinators overseeing group exercise, personal training, fee based specialty classes, fitness center and fitness center staff, and active older adult/silver sneakers activities.

Results

n  Achieved/surpassed Personal Training Revenue goals within the last three months.

n  First to fully staff—in over two years-- Personal Training Department with 2 full time

Project manager for all community based programming and development of strategic partnerships for grant funded programs.

Results

§   Created and developed partnership with Baylor Hospital to pilot a “Shared Equity Program”:  Doctors meet weekly with group patients at a YMCA facility and work with YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Coaches to support and improve patients’ wellbeing.

§   Partnered with Dallas Independent School District in launching “Coordinated School

Health Program”; providing community support and shaping state policy to increase physical activity within secondary schools

§   Actively involved with the Meadows Foundation and the Dallas Area Childhood Obesity Coalition.  Created partnership between the Coalition and the Lake Highlands YMCA to create safe walking paths for area schools and walking trails in the 75248 service area. 

§   Worked with Dallas YMCA Executive Directors at Grand Prairie, Garland, Lake Highlands, Lakewest, Town North, T. Boone Pickens, McKinney, Coppell, Frisco, Oak Cliff, Waxahachie and White Rock YMCA’s to establish community based programming at respective branches, (YDPP , MEND for childhood obesity, and Salsa, Sabor y Salud for Latino Families).  Collaborated with Arlington and Fort Worth Associations in creating a Metroplex marketing plan for the Diabetes Prevention Program. 

§   Managed Dallas YMCA’s Concilio Partnership to assist in branding and translating the YMCA culture to the Latino community. 

§   Integral role working with Health and Wellness committee to establish Association standards and innovate of new ideas. 

 

Alief Family YMCA of Greater Houston     Houston,TX     Healthy Living Director   2009

Responsible for Program Development and Budget Adherence for : Group Exercise, Personal Training, Taekwondo, Dance, Active Older Adult Programming, and Childcare .

Results:

§  Increased participation and revenue for Informal Education programs—Taekwondo and Dance—by over 55%.

§  Planned, programmed and successfully launched a new group exercise format for branch—The Masala Bhangra Workout—to meet the need of branch’s diverse community.  Did several “live show” tapings and on-air interviews to promote the launching of this new genre .

§  Built relationships and partnerships within the community to help launch and successfully fill the UK MEND program:  Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do-it for children between the ages of 7-13 who are not at their ideal weight.

§  Coordinated over 30 volunteers, 35 fitness staff/instructors, and secured financial donations from 20 businesses and vendors for large national events such as “Healthy Kids Day”, Hispanic Heritage Month, and “Senior Citizen Day” special

 events.

§  Created and implemented incentive program for Capital One employees.

Assisted with the planning and layout of a $5 million dollar facility.  Responsible for creating fee-based programming for personal training department, as well as meet budgetary goals.

Results:

§  Created, organized and staffed a successful group fitness class that increased in participation by over 37%.

§  Worked with corporations within the Downtown Dallas Market establishing fee-based health and wellness programs for companies such as Hunt Oil, Gulfstream, and others.

§  Assisted in the planning of the schematics and development of a $5 million dollar fitness floor renovation completed October 2009.

§  “Listen First” coach and trainer—an innovative technique to better engage members and clientele.

§  Created customized fitness programs to help members achieve their health and wellness goals.
