As a teacher, I've crafted the abilty of breaking down concepts so others can quickly understand and apply the skills I'm teaching. This is true whether I'm teaching science to Kindergartners or Zumba steps to Minnesotans...Everyone wants to feel successful and that's doable when the format is taught well. This is what I do best. People walk away from my class saying, "I can do this!" even when an hour before, they were convinced they couldn't.
When it comes to teaching Zumba Fitness, I am successful because I of my queing skills and ability to draw the class in. I use facial gestures, hand motions, some verbal ques and high energy choreography to accomplish this. Repetition doesn't hurt either! We go over steps in phases--first the feet and eventually the arms. When appropriate, I offer modifications for different skill and fitness levels. This makes the class feel "tailor made" for each participant, no matter how diverse the class is.
I started taking Zumba Fitness classes 5 years ago. I was chubby and out of shape. Although I was a member of a health club, I was bored with the treadmill and other offerings of the club. Worse, I was seeing minimal results. But as so many will tell you, Zumba was completely different. For the first time in my life, I actually looked forward to working out! Soon, my husband started noticing changes in my body. Along with weight traing, I started to see definition--and a waist again!
Currently, I'm in the best shape of my life! I was an aerobics instructor back in my 20's, so that's saying a lot! During the past 2 years of teaching Zumba, I've motivated scores of people to get in the best shape of their lives too! This includes my husband who recently became a Spin instructor! I look forward to motivating your clients as well.
