PILATES
I believe in challenging both the mind and the body with mindfulness and compassion. Our bodies were made to move and flow and within our movement we find a deeper connection to our bodies.
For most of us, the core is the weakest part of our bodies, but it’s our center, where all our strength originates. When it’s weak, the entire body is weak; build core strength and long, lean muscles. When you build the body, you instantly build the mind.
Centering ourselves is a way of coming to terms with all the different energies within us and drawing them back into ourselves. Centering means that you are working from or being aware of the core of your being in the solar plexus area of your body.
Fit2Glow Pilates is a holistic movement programme, staying true to the classical foundational principles; delivering a fusion of Pilates and yoga inspired postures. The sessions will leave you toned, strong and supple.
Fit2Glow Pilates holistic approach focuses on connecting with your breath & spirit whilst working from the centre of your being; your core.
By concentrating on movements that build strength from the inside, will enhance posture and presence as well as coordination and awareness. The moves can be gently restorative or very dynamic. Fit2Flow Pilates is a safe, controlled, non-impact, non-cardiovascular series of moves. It combines mobility, strength and flexibility. It works on posture, balance and stability using the bodies own ‘inner corset type’ strength. Fit2Glow Pilates can help improve joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.
Fit2Glow Pilates is a hands-on class to assist you and will arm you with techniques for life. I offer 1-2-1 private sessions, small groups of all ages and abilities. I also work with children from the age of 7 years old. Exercises can be modified as and when necessary. The class is designed around exercises that are achievable and safe even for those who are new to Pilates. The exercises also challenge your abilities and offer you the classic pairing of strength and flexibility that is intrinsically linked to the Pilates philosophy.
YOGALATES
Yogatates fuses the practices of Yoga and Pilates. It has steadily gained popularity and an International reputation as being a system which makes the disciplines of Yoga and Pilates easily accessible to anyone.
Yogalates is described as a meeting place of east and west because it effectively merges the ancient practice of Yoga from the east with the core stabilising, posture enhancing dynamics of Pilates from the west.
The heart of each approach is the emphasis of creating union with oneself. Yoga can enhance strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and mental clarity. Through developing a conscious awareness of the body, mind, breath and life force (prana) it has the ability to be deeply relaxing and health enhancing.
Pilates creates a very safe and strong foundation for movement.
A regular Yogalates session will include exercises and poses (asana) to cultivate strength, stamina, stability and flexibility with particular attention paid to building tone in the deeper postural “core” muscles. These protect the spine against injury, support the internal organs and foster pelvic and spinal awareness to promote good posture. Equipment such as blocks, resistance bands (which replicate the resistance training of the Pilates machines), weights, toning balls may also be used to further enhance strength and balance.
Yogalates can also be seen as a holistic approach, which aims to bring about balance and unity in body, mind and spirit. It is suitable for all ages and is a very safe and accessible method making it ideal for sufferers of back pain, arthritis, and osteoporosis and is particularly beneficial for postnatal women. As an exercise modality it is excellent for developing general tone and fitness, while also encouraging a connection with self to soothe the nervous system, release stress, aid relaxation and instil inner calm and overall wellbeing.
EXERCISE INSTRUCTION FOR CARE & NURSING HOMES
My aim is to bring “an hour of fun, laughter and joy” to residents of care & nursing homes.
The focus is to be able to transform the quality of life of older people everywhere through fun, inclusive health and wellness programmes built around exercise and meaningful activities.
Activities include Zumba Gold, Chairobics. It’s incredible how such activities revolutionise how people in care homes, including those with dementia, participate in physical activity to improve mental alertness and physical health.
As we get older, it becomes even more important to remain active if we want to stay healthy and maintain our independence.
The ideal elderly exercise program consists of three components: aerobic exercise, strength training, and balance and flexibility. Almost all elders can benefit from some form of exercise and physical activity. Performing gentle sitting exercises will help improve their mobility and prevent falls.
Chair exercises effectively assist elderly individuals to exercise and move without putting undo pressure or strain on their bodies. Movement works to lubricate joints and keep them flexible, strengthen and stabilise individual muscles and increase blood circulation. These exercise and movement outcomes result in an increased ability to better accomplish day-to-day physical activities.

DANCE FOR SCHOOLS
CHILDREN DANCE WORKSHOPS & AFTER SCHOOL DANCE CLUBS.
I am a qualified, experienced Fitness Instructor and CRB checked as well as first aid trained and insured. I work with Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Nurseries whether for workshops or regular clubs. Classes are fun and energetic and schools are given the opportunity to take part in outside shows and competitions. Offering tailor-made sessions to suit your organisation include:
• Dance clubs; inclusive of Zumba / Yogalates / GetFit2Funk.
• Dance workshops during school hours.
• Workshops and classes for staff.
The sessions consist of an energising warm up, a short dance routine adapted to suit the ability of the group and a relaxing cool down stretches which will relax the minds and bodies of your children. Classes are usually 40-60 minutes.
After School Club provides high quality, fun and engaging dance classes, which can offer many benefits to your school and pupils:
Zumba clubs are the perfect opportunity for children to learn fun zumba routines. Classes are extremely fun and a great way for children to keep fit. A small presentation is usually the main aim which gives the children a focus and enables parents, teachers and friends to see what has been learnt and the new skills they have acquired. The children participate in various dance styles where they will repeat movement and actions that will increase controlled coordination. The children will explore different ideas and stimuli.
Yogalates can be very practical in schools because it improves academic performance. Children learn to focus in yogalates and this skill translates to academic work. Also, if they learn how to self-regulate, i.e. work with their own emotions and thoughts to calm themselves down, they have coping skills for test-taking and school stress. Yogalates Combats the sedentary school day. Despite breaks and some gym time, children are pretty sedentary all day. They work to control their energy to stay seated and focused in desk chairs all day. It is helpful to move, stretch, breathe and balance. Childhood obesity, ADHD, and lots of other children health concerns can be addressed by getting them moving more regularly, and yogalates is a non-competitive and inexpensive way to move. It increases flexibility and strength and can even help with cardiovascular health.
Yogalates teaches children to get along with themselves and others; helping with behavioural problems in schools before they start. Why? Yogalates is all about relationships with yourself and the world around you. And what skill is more useful for a child. Children learn how to make themselves feel better no matter what their outside situations are. They learn to develop inner strength.
My sessions encourage body and spatial awareness and every component of fitness; particularly flexibility, posture, agility, the dance classes encourage role play, the use of imagination and musicality. All of these contribute to the development of creativity. Participants are encouraged to ‘think outside the box’.
The classes are a great way of encouraging social awareness and exploring diversity. Constant guidance and advice is given. The young people can also watch, observe and evaluate themselves and others in order to improve and control the skills they will learn.
