Jacqui Jones went to her first Yoga class in 1978 and lives and works in the UK. She has practiced many types of Yoga including Viniyoga, Ashtanga, Bikram and Iyengar. She has a strong interest in Yoga Philosophy, enjoying classical texts such as The Upanishads and The Bhagavad-Gita, which she weaves into her classes. Jacqui used asana and pranayama breathing techniques learnt in Yoga whilst in labour with her two daughters. As her daughters began to grow up she studied with the British School of Yoga and gained the BSY Hatha Yoga Teaching Diploma. She began teaching in September 2002, two classes per week at Fitness First in Pontefract. Beginning in Jan 2005 Jacqui then studied the Inner Yoga Trust Foundation Teachers Awareness Programme at Bodywise in the Manchester Buddhist Centre, completing this in March 2006. In August 2005 she began teaching a class at The Glasshoughton Healthy Living Centre as well as teaching at Xercise at Xscape, Castleford. In November 2005 Jacqui was delighted to be accepted onto the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Diploma course tutored by Di Kendall. This 500 hour course is the industry “gold” standard yoga teaching qualification in the UK and the British Wheel of Yoga is a Sport England recognised national governing body for Yoga in the UK. Jacqui completed this after three and a half years in early 2009 and now is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals as a Level 3 Yoga Teacher. Jacqui has also worked for Thorpe Park Spa in Leeds and later full time for Yorkshire Yoga and Therapy Centre. The centre is one of four recognised BWY Approved Centres in the U.K. Jacqui appeared on the BBC 'One Show' teaching Hot Yoga to Dr Marty Jopson, also she did a demonstration at the 'Change for Life' LIVE Exhibition. She has attended workshops with renowned yogis such as TKV Desikachar, Menaka Desikachar and Mekhala Desikachar, Ranju Roy, Paul Harvey and David Sye. She also holds a First Aid Certificate and BWY Insurance as well as a CRB Disclosure Certificate for working with young people and vulnerable adults.
