Thomasina Larkin

Before entering the health field, I worked as a journalist for almost a decade.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa in 2000 and shortly after moved to Asia, where I spent eight years working in various communications-related jobs.  I taught English as a second language in Taiwan and Japan at high schools, elementary schools, cram schools, adult education centres and in private lessons.  This teaching experience laid the foundation for later become a fitness and yoga instructor.  I also worked as a writer and editor in Japan for five years at an English magazine and at the largest English newspaper in the country.  I currently write a regular column about health and wellness for a local newspaper.

My time abroad taught me how to communicate and relate to people from many different cultures and backgrounds.  It taught me patience, compassion and understanding, which greatly contributes to my teaching skills.

I am positive, energetic, adventurous and fun.  I am very approachable and outgoing and I can quickly establish friendly and lasting relationships with people from various cultures.  I can think quick on my feet, and can multi-task and solve problems effectvely and efficiently.  I am extremely knowledgeable and am great at motivating.  I am on a constant journey of learning and I love to draw from all of my experiences in what I do.
