Laura McCarty has taught yoga to children, youth, teens, adults and seniors of every level from ages 2-98 yrs. old. A nationally-certified yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance, Laura is a senior teacher at Sun and Moon Yoga teacher, where she has taught 1,000s of students and has consistently been rated as one of the best teachers at the studio since she began teacher there in 2001. She teaches private and group classes at studios, in people's homes, at offices and public venues.
Laura began her yoga studies at St Mark's Yoga Studio in 1991 in the Sivinanda tradition and was certified by Sun and Moon's rigorous teacher training in 2002. She has studied in the Sivananda, Anusara, and Iyengar traditions with teachers such as B.K.S Iyengar's disciple Usha Devi in Rishikesh, India, as well as Kausthub Desikachar, Rodney Yee, Erich Schiffman, Swami Vishnudevananda's disciple Neela Kantha Robinson, and JJ Gormley.
Her classes include pranayama, asanas, mediation and relaxation. She leads a vigorous class that allows every student to participate at their comfort level.
Laura donates her teaching skills to raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness, the Arlington Food Assistance Center as well as many non-profit organizations.
