Growing up, I was not raised in a sports or health and fitness environment and therefore was always an overweight, unhealthy child. I did not fit the "normal" mold and was shy and insecure about who I was.
I found a new sense of freedom and security in my teen years when I started dancing for fun at local teen clubs.
At 18, I was at an unhealthy weight and decided to give the local gym a shot. Well, that lead to a life long change and introduced me to Yoga. Yoga gave me the light that I needed to find who I was and I decided to share my journey with others. I became a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, but I still couldn't shake the feeling of freedom that dancing had always given me.
I continued my journey and became a Yogrhythmics Instructor (energizing the Chakras through dance), a Yoga Trance Dance Instructor (blends Yoga and Dance in a free form, powerful movement), and a YogaKids Associate (pulling in the playful side). I am always looking for new and fun ways to stay in shape and have fun with your body, mind, and spirit.
I was drawn to Zumba classes because they are high energy, fun and friendly for all levels. They allow you to enter a place of zero judgement and let it all go. I found the same freedom and sense of happiness in Zumba that I found in my Yoga movement classes and I knew I had to share my energy with others.
