Lisa Conner (E-RYT 200+): I am a teacher who is pragmatic both in my approach to life and teaching.  I realize that no two students are the same or have the same needs.  I have a passion for helping people to find thelselves both on and off the mat.  I try to be creative and adventurous in my teaching but work to come across with a certain compassion in my guidance. B.K.S. Iyengar once said, and I whole heartedly believe, that "yoga is a mirror to look at ourselves from within." While I do believe that yoga is a personal practice where you can reflect and connect (both with yourself and with others) - I do not believe that it is a game of solitaire. Yes, the practice is personal but it is far more fun with friends.

I found my way to my mat over a decade ago and have been hooked ever since!  After several years of growing my own practice I decided it was time to share my love for yoga with others.  I was very active in the CorePower Yoga community so I decided that would be where I trained.  I was certified in Vinyasa Yoga, CoreRestore, and Yoga Sculpt and began teaching right away.  I teach several classes weekly in the metro-Denver area at CorePower Yoga.  I have also taught classes for Lifetime Fitness and Greenwood Athletic Club.  I embrace every aspect of yoga.  The physicality of yoga truly makes me a better person both inside and out - I love to move and sweat!

Off my mat I work as an Assistant Principal in the Douglas County School District in Parker, Colorado. After working with students for more than 20 years, in the past few years I began to consider how yoga could benefit my students.  Children need to learn to breathe, be grounded and connect with a community of friends (sometimes more than adults do!) I wanted to learn how to transfer the benefits of yoga to children in school so I began to study with Christen Bakken of Yoga for Young Warriors and became certified in Kids Yoga.  I love teaching younger yogis just as much as teaching adults!

Yoga keeps me grounded and more mindful in all aspects of my life. A wife and mother of three, I believe you only get what you give because life is an echo: what you send out, comes back; what you sow, you reap; what you give, you get; what you see in others exists in you.  The focus in my classes first and foremost is mindfulness: being present, body awareness, alignment and breath. I enjoy guiding my students to help them create the pose based on their own body readiness.  You will often hear me say, "I am the guide, YOU are the master.  On and off the mat, it is truly just YOU against YOU.  Remember why YOU came."  I once had a student tell me that in class I cleanse her body and her soul.  To me that is the greatest compliment a yoga teacher can receive.  I come to the mat to help others.  I want them to sweat and leave ready to be their best version of themself!
