My name is Matthew and I am a 29 year old personal trainer from San Diego living and working in Amnapolis Maryland. I recently graduated from the University of Maryland college park with a degree in Kinesiology and have been a certified personal trainer since 2011.
I have always believed that a healthy lifestyle is key to longevity. It has been said that true wealth is good health and I believe those are words love live by. I first started down the path to training in my position at the corporate office of Jack in the Box inc., a fast food company. My coworkers and I started going to the gym during our lunch breaks and I soon began teaching routines and researching methods that were grounded in science, not an infomercial. My office was two blocks away from the headquarters of the American Council on Exercise and it was because of this exposure that I decided to get certified through them.
I moved to Maryland to be closer to family and get my degree in a field I knew I wanted to work in and at a top ranked school. I was certified by ACE the following spring as certified Personal Trainer and later as a Certified Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength Professionals Assocition by John Philbin, strength coach for the Washington Nationals, certified
My specialties are working with individuals one-on-one, group training, running bootcamps, and TRX suspension training. I have been very pationate about spreading the knowledge I have gained over the years and working hard to help people change their lives through physical fitness and proper nutrition. I have a few hobbies like making skateboards and playing guitar and my favorite activity to engage in is surfing, although Marykand doesn't offer many opportunities.
