My experience in the fields of fitness, health and wellness began with personal training students and staff at UW - La Crosse, where I attended college. I received my BS in exercise and sport science and did an internship at Dartmouth College. I worked in the strength and conditioning department and had direct interaction with the athletes. I developed and implemented programs for many of their teams. After completing my internship, I worked as a weight loss counselor at Camp Shane in New York. I mentored teens to help them on their jouneys and quests to live happier and healither lives. When this job ended, I found myself back in Madison and still reside there today.
I have been personal training in the Madison, WI area for 12 years. My first experience training in Madison was at a boutique style personal training studio called Orange Shoe. I trained, taught yoga, and provided nutritional guidance and counseling to clients there for 3.5 years. While I loved what I did, I wanted to continue to grow professionally. I started my own business in March of 2013 called Empower Fitness. I'm currently personal training and serving as a total support system to my own clients. I am also a yoga instructor at an area studio, Dragonfly Hot Yoga, where I teach primarily vinyasa classes and high intensity interval training classes. I have worked with individuals of all ages with varying fitness abilities, limitations, goals, personalities, and so on. I have experience in working with clients one on one, in small groups, and large groups alike. I have taught circuit style, bootcamp, strength, conditioning and yoga classes.
I am an energetic and passionate fitness professional. My goal is to help everyone I come into contact with live happier and healthier days. I truly believe that keeping a healthy body and mind is the best way to improve the quality of life. I strive to help my family, friends and clients take care of their bodies, minds, and spirits.
