Mary Jo Falvey

Mary Jo Falvey, MA,  is an experienced STOTT PILATES® Instructor, STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer of Mat and Reformer, Registered Yoga Instructor, and Certified Personal Trainer who loves to share her passion for fitness and health. While Mary Jo’s  main love is mind-body exercise she also enjoys running, cycling, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and staying strong and fit. With her supportive and fun approach to training, Mary Jo has helped many people make lasting improvements to their health, vitality and physical fitness for almost three decades.

Clients love Mary Jo’s creativity, balance and support.  For instance, one client said “Mary Jo is amazingly caring and yet she inspires me to keep reaching for my goals.” Another said, “Mary Jo is fun and so very encouraging. She is serious in her love of Pilates, but she is also great fun.”

Mary Jo is the owner and founder of Pilates Tutor Studio in Marietta, Georgia.  She has more than a decade of experience practicing and teaching Pilates and has almost three decades of experience in  the fitness industry, including presenting community fitness and weight loss programs and  implementing a comprehensive corporate wellness and fitness program for an insurance company in Hartford, CT.

When not running Pilates Tutor, Mary Jo makes time to be involved with community organizations. She has volunteered for the Saint Ann’s Life Teen Program, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the Wheeler High School Marching Band. She is a member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and the East Cobb Small Business Association. Mary Jo believes in giving back to the community.  In the past seven years Pilates Tutor has donated more than $8,000 in goods and services to local community organizations.  Mary Jo has also taught free community Pilates classes at Paper Mill Village, in downtown Roswell,  and in Marietta Square.

A native of Cold Spring Harbor, New York, Mary Jo studied Sociology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  Mary Jo’s Master’s Degree is in Exercise Physiology and Adult Fitness from Adelphi University.  Her research thesis studied causes of, and modalities to prevent delayed onset muscle soreness. Mary Jo has also completed certifications in STOTT PILATES, and is a Fully Certified Level 2 STOTT PILATES and a STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer for Mat and Reformer Exercises.  She completed a 200 hour yoga certification course through Yoga Works in May, 2013 and received her RYT-200 designation in July, 2013.  Mary Jo is also certified through the American Council of Exercise as a Personal Trainer, and has completed certifications in TRX Suspension Training, Indoor Cycling, Water Aerobics, CPR and First Aid, Functional Fitness, and Professional Communication.  Over the past five years Mary Jo has completed more than 600 hours of continuing education in different areas of fitness.  She loves to learn new things and to pass them on to her clients and fellow instructors.

Mary Jo lives in Marietta, GA with her husband Tim. They have three grown children. When Mary Jo is not teaching and training clients  you can find her in her garden or paddle boarding on the Chattahoochee River.
