I started indoor cycling in 2003 when I was teaching English in a small city in Brazil; I was hooked immediately. I continued to take classes as a student, even when I was pregnant (up until 37 weeks!), and finally got certified in early 2012. I began teaching classes within three months of getting certified and have continued to do so. In addition to indoor cycling, I cycle outside and I run, though not very long distances. In high school and college, I played ice hockey and rock climbed, but dropped those because of time and injuries. Cycling has the benefit of being low impact and has changed my life, allowing me to remain active.
I have a two-year old son and a wonderful husband, who is an avid runner and cyclist. I also work full-time at Rice University in Houston, Texas as the Associate Director of Research for the Center for Digital Learning and Scholarship.
