Jennifer Green

My group fitness teaching journey began as I transitioned from a career in the mental health field in 2012. I began teaching Les Mills Body Pump and subsequently became certified in several other formats from that company. This exposed me to a variety of teaching formats, from strength training  (Body Pump) to aerobics and cardio-based classes (Body Vive & Attack), to mind-body classes (Body Flow). Since then, I have taken trainings and certifications in order to teach a variety of other class formats, including HIIT/ Boot Camp, Kickboxing, Cycle/Spin, yoga, pilates, and aqua aerobics. I enjoy teaching both pre-choreographed classes such as Les Mills and Mossa formats, as well as freestyle classes.

My journey as a Yoga instructor began in 2015 when I became certified to teach BodyFlow, a blend of Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi. Since then I have completed several phases of more traditional Yoga training through AAAI/ISMA from levels 1-3. In 2019 I completed my 200 hour training through Aura Wellness. I currently teach Yoga weekly at the Attleboro YMCA where I offer a gentle Hatha Yoga style on Saturday mornings, a Foundations of Yoga on Tuesday mornings, and a more active Vinyasa style when requested on different days of the week.  Drawing on BodyFlow style and past pilates training, I am also comfortable offering a blended Yoga/Pilates class and have done this on several teaching vacations in the past.

I became certified as a personal trainer in 2014 and have worked 1:1 and in small groups with individuals of various ages and fitness levels. I also work with chronic disease populations such as cancer survivors through the Livestrong program and individuals with Parkinson's through our Y's Delay the Disease and Pedaling for Parkinson's programs.

In addition to working in the fitness field, I work as a psychotherapist. I have witnessed the overlap between physical and mental health and I believe that fitness plays a valuable role in emotional wellbeing.
