I was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa, and I have been exposed to music and dance in the early stages of my life. I joined a dance group during the summers of my teen years, and even partnered with my sister to create and perform intricate choreographies with music from around the world. We even won a few awards at local Junior Competitions. I have lived in the US since 1995, with my husband of now 18 years and my two children.
I've been into fitness since the 90s and was a Jazzercise adept until I discovered Zumba in 2008, as a student. But soon felt the need to become more, and share my love for dance with others. I have noticed a big difference in how I feel inside, and out. Zumba has made me not only healthier, it has made me happier. I find Zumba to be a great way to satisfy my love for dance and my need to exercise. I have since gotten licensed in other Zumba specialties, such as Toning, Sentao, Zumbatomic and Aqua Zumba. I also have acquired my certification in a new Dance Fitness program called Bokwa. I am in the process of acquired my certification in Youth Fitness and conditioning, and am AFAA certified.
I have been a Montessori teacher for the last 11 years, and love anything that has to do with education. As a fitness educator I get to see the results in a much shorter time span and it is always a great feeling to see a student succeed in meeting their goals or milestones.
So, if you're looking for a fun workout, a fitness program that doesn't feel like one, a party on the dance floor, or even a chance to learn or improve on those dance moves, then come join me! We'll do the Salsa, the Cumbia, the Cha Cha, the Reggaeton, the Flamenco, Belly Dancing, even some African flavors, or just move to the sound of radio's top 40s while sweating to the alphabet, I may just be the one for you.
