Carolyn Diamond

Carolyn has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. Although she has been self-employed and worked in gyms such as New York Sports Club, Bally's Fitness Clubs and Spa Lady, the majority of her fitness career has been at the luxurious and prestigious Hilton Spa at Short Hills in New Jersey. Her class schedule includes: step, floor aerobics, muscle toning, spin, yoga, ball, deep water and shallow water aerobics. She is certified by AFFA as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Step Instructor. She is also certified by Johnny G as a Spin Instructor and by Power Pilates as an instructor. She has held certifications by AAAI and AEA in Aqua Fitness and by The American Red Cross in CPR and Lifeguarding. Finally, Carolyn attended The American Yoga Academy and holds certificationas a Yoga Teacher. Carolyn graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a BA degree in Pyschology. While studying at Rutgers, Carolyn was a cheerleader and received the Rutgers Scholar Athletic Award for earning the highest grade point average among athletes. She completed her graduate work in the area of School Pyschology and was awarded with distinction. Carolyn has infused her knowledge of psychology into her fitness and yoga classes. In addition, Carolyn has conducted workshops and published articles on such topics as stress, relaxation and handling interpersonal conflict. In the fall of 1994, she placed fourth in the American Fitness Challenge. The following year Carolyn returned to complete in this divisional aerobic competition and took first place. In addition to Carolyn's aerobic interests, she has studied, performed and/or taught a variety of dance styles including: jazz, modern, tap, ballet and belly dancing. Carolyn has used her dance and psychology background as a means to help disabled children through dance therapy. As a member of the New York Road Runners Club, Carolyn attends clinics and has recently started to run. Cross country skiing and kayaking are new hobbies that she as currently started to explore.
